GMC and Ducks Unlimited: A Partnership Built for the Outdoors

All of us here at  Robertson’s GMC in Wareham, are proud to spotlight GMC’s new role as the Official Truck of Ducks Unlimited. Announced in May, this partnership brings together two best-in-class brands that share a focus on quality, performance, and purpose, while reinforcing the connection between premium vehicles and a strong outdoor lifestyle.

For nearly 90 years, Ducks Unlimited has led the way in conserving wetlands and waterfowl habitat across North America, and that mission continues today through projects that protect wildlife, support communities, and preserve outdoor traditions. GMC’s trucks and SUVs are built for the people who don’t just enjoy the outdoors, they depend on it for work, recreation, and everyday life.

Why It Matters in Massachusetts

This partnership is especially meaningful here in Massachusetts, where Ducks Unlimited is active across the state and deeply involved in local conservation. DU’s Massachusetts page shows state leadership, district chairs in Northeast Massachusetts, Greater Boston, Central Massachusetts, and the South Shore, plus ongoing events, volunteer opportunities, and grassroots support throughout the Commonwealth.

Massachusetts DU members also make a measurable impact: the state has 3,655 members, raised $442,865 in grassroots dollars last year, and conserved 1,831 acres. DU notes that the North Atlantic Coast, Great Lakes, and Prairie Pothole regions all matter to New England waterfowl hunters, which is why conservation efforts here at home are so important.

Local Conservation, Local Relevance

Two Massachusetts projects stand out. In Wellfleet, DU is part of the $60 million Herring River salt marsh restoration effort, which will restore tidal flow to about 890 acres and improve habitat, water quality, and wildlife diversity at Cape Cod National Seashore.

DU is also helping restore former cranberry bogs in Massachusetts, including the Tidmarsh West project in Plymouth, where 45 acres were restored by reconnecting the site to the flood plain and the ocean. The organization says broader efforts tied to retired cranberry farmland could protect more than 20 sites and support 1,800 acres of land protection and 900 acres of wetland restoration over five years.
