Commercial Work Truck Customizations Here At Robertson’s GMC & Robertson’s Truck Center

Why Serious Businesses Buy Their Work Trucks At Robertsons:
When your truck is the backbone of your business, you cannot afford a one‑size‑fits‑all solution. At Robertsons GMC, work trucks and commercial vehicles are not a sideline—they are the center of what my team and I do every day, from first spec to final upfit.robertsonshino+2
Built Around Your Business, Not Our Lot
Most dealerships try to fit your business into whatever they happen to have on the ground. At Robertsons, we start with a different question: “What do you actually do every day?” From there, we build the truck around your routes, loads, and customers—whether that is a single GMC chassis cab or a small fleet of Hino box trucks. Because we specialize in GMC and Hino commercials, we can match the right platform, wheelbase, GVWR and body style to the way you actually work.
One Team From Chassis To Completed Upfit
A big pain point I hear from owners is feeling stuck between the dealer, the body company, and the upfitter, with nobody taking ownership of the whole build. At Robertsons, my commercial team works as your single point of contact from initial quote to ready‑to‑roll truck. We coordinate with trusted body and equipment partners for dump bodies, flatbeds, refrigerated boxes, liftgates, tow bodies, and specialty interiors, so you are not chasing updates from three different companies. The result is a cleaner process, fewer surprises, and a truck that shows up ready to go to work on day one.
Robertson’s Real‑World Custom Builds We Do Every Week
Here are some of the custom applications we help with all the time:
- Refrigeration and cold chain
Hino box trucks and GMC chassis with insulated bodies, reefers, and liftgates for food distributors, seafood, florists, and other temperature‑sensitive loads. - Towing and recovery
Heavy‑duty GMC platforms spec’d for wheel‑lift or rollback bodies, with the right wheelbase, axle ratios, and braking setup for safe, repeatable towing. - Hauling and construction
Dump bodies, landscape bodies, and flatbeds on Sierra 2500/3500 HD and chassis cabs, built around your typical payload, material type, and job‑site conditions. - Cranes and Hook & Go Systems
Trucks outfitted with hydraulic cranes and advanced hook-lift systems for easy loading and unloading of containers and heavy equipment, maximizing versatility and efficiency. - Service and Utility Bodies
Custom-designed enclosed and open service bodies with compartmentalized storage, drawers, and power access for mobile workshops, field service technicians, and utility companies. - Custom lifts and higher‑load access
Trucks set up with liftgates, rail gates, or stake sides for furniture delivery, appliance installs, and any operation that needs safe, repeatable loading at dock or ground level. - Box and interior customization
Shelving, E‑track, bulkheads, and custom box layouts so everything in your truck has a place—and stays put from the first stop to the last.
Every build starts with a discovery conversation about how you use your trucks: number of stops per day, typical cargo, average route length, and where you lose time now.
Robertson’s In Action & At Work: Custom GMC Diesel for Excavation
We recently helped a long-time customer from New Hampshire who works in the land-clearing and excavation business. His one request was to supply a GMC Diesel chassis to replace his existing Ford Lariat. Since GMC only offers the SLE as the highest trim level for this model, we went beyond the standard, adding every available package and having custom leather installed to elevate the interior to his preference. To ensure the truck was built with functionality and durability in mind, we completed the build with:
- A “Free Country” 9’ skirted flatbed
- A 94-gallon diamond plate transfer tank with pump
- A strobe light kit
This client initially came to us through our Service Department and was very pleased with the service he received on his Medium-Duty truck. It’s a great example of how all our departments—Sales, Service, and Parts—work together to deliver what our customers need to keep their businesses running, which is what they’ve come to expect from Robertson’s GMC.

The Advantage Of A Truck‑Centric Store
Because Robertsons is a truck‑centric dealership, you are talking to people who live in the world of GVWR, axle ratings, PTO requirements, and total cost of ownership—not just paint colors and monthly payments. We help you think beyond “Can it tow?” to “Will it still be profitable at 150,000 miles?” and “Can my drivers operate this safely in February at 5 a.m.?” That means spec’ing the right engine and transmission, choosing the correct body and gear, and planning maintenance so you maximize uptime and resale.
Why Businesses Come Back To Us
A work truck is not just another asset—it is a rolling promise to your customers that you will show up on time and ready to work. Our commercial clients come back to Robertsons because they know we are in it for the long haul with them: we track what worked on their last build, what did not, and how to make the next one even better. Whether you are adding your first dedicated work truck or planning your next round of fleet replacements, my job is to make sure the truck you drive off in is the one your business truly needs.
If you are thinking about a custom build—refrigeration, towing, hauling, liftgates, or a specialty box—reach out and let’s spec it correctly the first time.
Warmly,
Josh
