Winter-Ready:  A Welcome To The New Year Message & Winter Invite from Loring Mills, Robertson’s GMC Service Manager

Loring MillsAs the heavy hand of winter sweeps across Southeastern Massachusetts, the South Shore, Cape, and the Islands, now is the time to make sure your GMC is ready for the road ahead. Robertson’s GMC in Wareham is your go-to GMC dealer and service center for the SouthCoast region, and winter prep is one of the most important things you can do to protect your vehicle and your family.

As the new Service Manager here at Robertson’s, I’m introducing our Seasonal Winter Inspection—a comprehensive check for just $19.95 designed to keep your vehicle dependable and safe through every New England winter challenge.

Your Winter Checklist

Cold weather takes a toll on key systems in your vehicle. Here’s what my team and I will inspect when you DRIVE IN—no appointment needed—for your $19.95 Seasonal Winter Inspection:

  • Battery
We’ll perform a full load test and terminal cleaning. Cold weather can reduce battery capacity by up to 50%, making it harder to start large engines like the Sierra’s V8.
  • Tires
We’ll check tread depth (minimum 4/32″) and rotate your tires if needed. Traction is your first line of defense, and a swap to winter tires can dramatically improve grip in sub-zero temperatures.
  • Fluids
We’ll inspect your antifreeze for the proper 50/50 mix, along with brake fluid and engine oil. Running dexos®1 full synthetic oil helps ensure better flow during cold starts and added protection in harsh winter conditions.
  • Brakes
Our team will examine brake pads, rotors, and calipers. Salt and slush can cause corrosion over time, and strong, responsive brakes are critical on icy and snow-covered roads.
  • Drivetrain
We’ll test your 4WD/AWD engagement to make sure your GMC’s transfer case and StabiliTrak® systems are ready for slick surfaces and sudden weather changes.
  • HVAC
We’ll verify that your heater and front/rear defrosters are working properly. These systems are essential for both passenger comfort and maintaining clear visibility in freezing temps and coastal storms.

Why This Check Matters

A focused winter inspection helps catch small issues before they turn into big problems—like a no-start situation on a frigid morning, poor traction in a storm, or reduced braking power on black ice. Preventive care now can save you time, money, and stress later in the season.

Whether you rely on your GMC for commuting, plowing, weekend trips to the Cape, or hauling gear through the SouthCoast, making sure it’s winter-ready is one of the smartest moves you can make at the start of the year.

A Personal Invitation from Loring Mills

To all of our current Robertson’s GMC customers—and to anyone in Southeastern Mass, the South Shore, Cape, or the Islands who drives a GMC or GM vehicle—I’d like to personally invite you to DRIVE IN today for your $19.95 Seasonal Winter Inspection. No appointment is needed; just pull into our Service Department, and my team and I will take it from there.

We’re here to help keep your GMC safe, comfortable, and performing at its best—no matter what winter throws at the SouthCoast. I look forward to meeting you in the service lane and helping you get winter-ready with confidence.
